THE CONCEPT
You need to specify the product portfolio by the product experts (product managers) in a way, so you can hand it over to the SAP VC Experts with no room for interpretation. A Microsoft EXCEL sheet is a simple but efficient approach to do this.
The EXCEL sheet must have a well-defined layout and the product experts can specify the configurator rules in a simple way with a business view by indicating valid combinations. We call that the Product Matrix.
THE AUTOMATION
When the Matrix is defined and ready, all data that is needed to create the configurator in SAP can be derived. The Matrix will be uploaded to the (cloud) converter and the AI will generate the coding. The generated coding can be uploaded with transactions in SAP.
This automation is not limited to the creation of a configurator. The rules that are defined in the EXCEL sheet can easily be changed and will be translated in the converter so you can upload it to SAP in minutes.
